You can arrive there in about 3 hours by taking the JR Shinkansen from Tokyo Station and transferring to a route bus. The ski resort area is surrounded by many mountains and you can get views of the beautiful snowy mountain landscape. You can also access Jigokudani Yaen-koen from the ski resort, where you can also see the snow monkeys that bathe in the hot springs.
Shiga Kogen Ski Area offers plenty of snow activities. You can enjoy sledding and play in the beautiful powdered snow.
With a gentle slope course, you can play in many kinds of snow with 6 types of winter gear. You can experience a variety of activities from using ordinary sleds, sleds like bicycles and sliding on both feet.

You can see wild Japanese macaques from up close. On cold days with lots of snow falling, you can see the rare sight of monkeys taking a hot spring just like people.
Zenkoji Temple is one of the most important and famous temples in Japan. It has a Buddha statue that is said to be the oldest in Japan. The temple is a place where you can feel the history of Japan. Zenkoji Temple is a 20-minute walk from JR Nagano Station.
